ATKINS - Two Atkins residents were taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital Sunday afternoon after a house fire.
The man and woman didn't appear seriously injured but were taken to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, Fire Chief Gary Lange said. He said he couldn't identify the couple.
Lange said a child playing with a lighter started the fire at 403 Second St. shortly after 3 p.m. Firefighters removed the mattress from the house before the flames could spread, he said.
